Rams’ 2010 schedule features chances for improvement
By Bud L. Ellis
After winning just one game in 2009, the St. Louis Rams hope for better results this season.
They know who they will play and where as they attempt to improve on last season’s one-win campaign.
The National Football League has not finalized dates or times, but has announced each team’s home and road games. The Rams have seven of their 16 games in 2010 against teams that won five games or less last season.
The toughest game appears to be a road contest at defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans. Also on the road, the Rams will face NFC West champ Arizona. The other six games are against non-playoff teams: San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Denver, Oakland and Detroit.
At home, the Rams will face only two playoff teams from a year ago, the Cards and AFC West champ San Diego. The rest of the home schedule includes the 49ers, the Seahawks, Atlanta, Carolina, Kansas City and Washington.
Based on the opponents’ winning percentage from 2009, the Rams’ schedule ranks 31st. Only Arizona has an easier schedule based on that formula.
